Based on the theory of Lefevere,this essay takes《牛虻》(The Gadfly written by Ethael Lilian Voynich) translated by Li Liangmin(李俍民) in the 1950s as a case study,examining how the translation activity is influenced by the dominant cultural and political factors and other manipulating powers such as the editors and publishers;and how the target text(TT) interacts with the ideology of the social system,drawing the conclusion that translation is partly the product of the manipulation of the power of domestic value.
