Effects of different plantdeployment models was surveyed in urbangreen areas in Huaian Municipality ofJiangsu Province, China. Results indicatedthat all trees and other plants aresignificantly effective in bacteria controlacross all seasons. The significance ofbacterial-control effectiveness is in an orderof within-forest > outside-forest (5 m fromthe stand boundary) and multi-layer >single layer (pure stand). Conifer speciesare more effective, small trees > shrubs inthe green island (isolation island). Theaverage effectiveness in bacteria control ishigher within than outside forest. Theseresults provide scientific evidence fordevelopment of ecological and healthyurban green areas.
