Note-taking is a learning strategy and a way of language learning in English classroom. How do Chinese college students take notes to facilitate their language teaching? Do different level of learners show any difference in note-taking? How can students be taught to take efficient notes? To these questions, an investigation was made including case studies, interviews, auditing and observing in class and in porticularly questionnaires. The results show that the importance of note- taking is accpted by most students but more training on note- taking is needed; notes are used poorly; there do exist differences in note-taking between different levels of learners. Finally some suggestions are put forward to help students take efficient notes.
