This paper mainly discusses the validity of the reading part of a proficiency test in different aspects, such as techniques of the reading part, reading texts and items, with the analysis of the validity of reading part of a proficiency test, valid and reliable techniques, reading texts and items can be chosen and designed, so that the aim of the reading part of the test can be successfully achieved and tests established can be effectively used to test candidates' ability in proficiency tests.
