An analytical method based on reversed-phase liquid chromatography has been developed for the simultaneous determination of 21 sulfonamides in cosmetics.Various cosmetic samples, including creams, lotions, powders, shampoos and lipsticks, were extracted under ultrasonication, and then separated on a Waters Symmetry C18 column(5 μm,4.6 mm×250 mm) by gradient elution with methanol and 0.1% formic acid in water as the mobile phase. In the range of 1-800 ng,the calibration curves of 21 hormones showed good linearity with the correlation coefficients more than 0.999.The positive results were identified and verified by HPLC-MS/MS.The mean recoveries at the three spiked levels of various cosmetic samples were 89%-109% with the relative standard deviations of 0.7%-6.6%.
