Ultra soft X ray optical crystal is vital to be used in analyzing ultra light elements,diagnosing the powerful laser plasma and studying the ultra soft X ray spectroscopy.Hexadel Hydrogen Maleate (HHM) is new kind of ultra-soft X ray organic optical crystal,whose distance between two faces (2 d ) is 5.83nm. In addition to powerful diffraction ability it has good mechanical intensity and eleavage ability.It can be processed to be plane crystal or curvaceous crystal,and it can exist stably in the air or vacant.In practice,it may be useful in the experiments or productions.In this paper,the growth of HHM crystal,its crystallized characteristic in fifteen kinds of organic solution,and nucleation in a part of these solutions have been investigated. Synthesized with malefic anhydride and hexadecane at the rate of 1∶1 in benzene,HHM can be gained after several catalytic reaction and esterification.After a series of refining,it changes into a flat,white solid.Analyzing with Perkin Elemen DSC 7 and D/max 3C XRD,we know its molten point is 73.04℃ and the angle of max. diffraction peak (2 θ ) is 2.980°.After measuring the solution curve of HHM,The crystal characteristic and nucleation in single organic solution or mixture were measured.We also find that benzene,methy1 benzene,Di methy1 benzene,and the mixture of benzene and A (a kind of organic solution with high boil point and viscosity) are the best solutions,and in these solution,the crystal faces of HHM can grow well,grassy,intact.
