Ben Jonson called Shakespeare'Soul of the Age.'and'He was not of an age,but for all time.'The purpose of this paper is to analyze mad images in Shakespeare’ s four tragedies, thus to explore the eternal charisma of the four tragedies,i.e.Shakespeare’ s need for his vague but strong,and indirect but open exposure of the English society.Then we come to the conclusion that Shakespeare,by presenting a galaxy of mad images,provides us with a panorama of the reality,thus we can find the eternal charisma of Shakespeare’ s four tragedies.They are'for all time'.
