The fiction, Robinson Crusoe, has achieved great success and it manifests the reality of the 17th -18th century. The writer, Defoe, because of the book, became the father of English realistic novel. All these achievements are contributed to its eternal themes, such as the qualities of individualism, the colonialism of bourgeoisie, the struggle with the nature. But I think the human labor which saves Robinson from despair, gives him pride and happiness, and makes him survive on the isolated island is the most important part in Crusoe’s character.
