Coal is a major energy in our country. The research about the combustion reaction and the kinetics of coal can provide basic data for developing the technology to utilize coal more cleanly and more efficiently. In this paper, thermogravimetryic analysis(TGA) was used to study the effect of heating rate on the combustion reaction of coal obtained from Shanxi Yangquan.Furthermore the combustion kinetics of which was studied by Flynn-Wall-Ozawa method and the distribution of activation energy model(DAEM).The results showed that the initial combustion temperature, the maximum combustion reaction rate temperature and the burning temperature were all elevated with the heating rate. The activation energy of combustion reaction calculated by Flynn-Wall-Ozawa method when α was 0.2,0.5,0.8 respectively, was 117.0,91.7,73.7 kJ/mol respectively. The value of distribution of activation energy obtained from DAEM was at the range from 47.7 to 115.0 kJ/mol.
