Placenta specific protein 8 (PLAC 8) also called onzin or C15, is a cys- teine-rich protein. It is widely distributed in eukaryotes, and its function has been extensively studied. It not only regulates cell division, differentiation, and apoptosis, but also plays an important role in the immune process. This article describes the latest progress of plac8 gene structure characteristics, evolution, expression and function and possible mechanisms.
