To verify the anti - tumour effects of polyscaccharide isolated from Tangerine skin on mice transplantable tumour, and to develop a new anticancer drug from plant. Mice were transplanted with S-180 sarcoma or Ehrhch's ascitic carcinoma and human hysterotrachecarcinoma Hela celi. Drugs were given daily, by oral administration. For seven days, on the eighth day animals were sacrificed. Peripheral blood cell counts, as well as plasma supemxide dismutase (SOD), malondialdehyde (MDA) and red blood cell immunity function determination. The inhibition rate of Tangerine skin polysaccharide for mice S -180 and EAC were 21.6% and 27.3% respectively.'Fne effect to Heal cell were detemined by MTT.The effect of Tangerine skin polysccharide on peripheral blood counts were increased numbers of peripheral leukocytes and lymphocytes, the Tangerine skin polysaccharide group was higher than Anliuru group (P<0.01 ). Plasm SOD activity were increased, MDA content depressed, but no difference. Red blood ceil immune function increased (P < 0.01 ). The inhibition rate for human hysterotrachecarcinoma Hela ceil were 52.4 %, 63.0% and 72.0%. Tangerine skin polysaccharide exhibited anti - cancer activity and may increase peripheral leucocyte count and number of lymphocytes and enhance immunompetece. It is promising in adjuvant therapy. Further study is worth continuing.
