The paper describes a 3D visualization system of buildings in Shandong University of Petroleum developed and establis-hed on the basis of Arc View GIS 3.2 platform. In this ystem the 2D geometry data are derived and transformed from CAD plan view, altitude data are obtained from actual mea-surement or estimated according to the floors of buildings, management of attribute data is made with Access database, and 3D model establishment of buildings is done with 3D Analyst which is newly-added module of the platform. With 3D Scene a dynamic display of the built model is played as well.
