[Objective] The aim was to reveal the distribution characteristics of Pb in the soil-rice system of western Hainan Island, China. [Method] With the western re- gion of Hainan as the study area, the distribution characteristics of Pb in the soil- rice system were analyzed comprehensively by combining field survey and indoor analysis under the assistance of geostatistical and spatial analysis techniques. [Result] The content of Pb in soil of western Ha/nan was 43.6 mg/kg. There were dif- ferences in Pb content among the soils developed from different parent materials. The distribution of Pb in the study area was affected by the distribution of parent material, and it was not closely related to soil properties. The content of Pb in white rice was lower than that in straw, and the mean contents were 0.14 and 3.48 mg/kg, respectively. The content of Pb in white rice was not closely related to soil properties. [Conclusion] The content of Pb in the soil of western Hainan Island was low in overall, and the Pb content in white rice was lower than the limit of National Food Safety Standard of Pb Content for Rice. In short, the ecological risk of Pb pollution in the study area was low.
