This paper reports an encouraging learner autonomy practice conducted in a junior college of medicine,which aims to motivate students' learning interests and improve their learning effect.With students making their learning schedule and designing lessons and materials and presenting in the class,the project encouraged students to take responsible for their own learning.In this practice,the role of teaching and learning shifts from the teacher to the students,the students becoming completely the center of learning.The results show that under the autonomous learning environment,the students had more interests to learn English and were more active to learn.They could learn more effectively and gain all round abilities.
