The hexamethylphosphoramide(HMPA)-containing wastewater was treated by solvent extraction. The ef-fects of a series of extractants, the amount of extractant and the concentration of the HMPA in aqueous solution were investigated. The experimental results showed that the CHCl 3 was a good extractant. The distribution ratios increase with the increase of CHCl 3 concentration, whereas the distrbution ratios decrease as the concentration of HMPA aqueous solution increases. After six steps of extraction, the concentration of HMPA in the wastewater was lower than the concentration based on phosphorus according to the discharge standard of water pollutants for phosphate fertilizer industry.
