Seventy seven male cases of the aged were treated by herb separated moxibustion. The acupoints selected were divided into two groups: group I includs Dazhui,Shenshu,Pishu.Group II includs Tanzhong, Zhongwan, Shenque,Zusanli. The patients were treated alternately between two groups,three times a week, one treatment course covers 24 times of treatment. TSH,T 3,T 4,FSH,LH,T and E 2 in peripheral blood were determined during pre and post treatment. After treatment of moxibustion, TSH, T 3 and T in peripheral blood were increased, while T 4,FSH,LH and E 2 were decreased. It indicated that moxibustion can enhance synthesis and secretion function of hypophsis and thyroid as well as modulating metabolism disturbance of gonadotropin and sex hormones.
