Divinyl\|2,2\|ethylenebis(nitrilomethylisyne)diphenol(4,4’\|divinylsalen)(1) was synthesized, which polymerized with styrene(mole ratio 1∶10) to polymer bound salen (2). Compound (2) forms complex with copper ion to give compound (3), the catalytic activity of which for the oxidation of propanethiol was examined.The chemical structures of compounds relating to salen were identified by IR spectra as well as elemental analysis. The composition of the oxidation product was also identified by HPLC, UV, IR and MS.
