The subgeneric research history and present research status of Lytta are briefly introduced on a worldwide basis. A key to the subgenera and species of male Chinese Lytta is given. A newly recorded species for China, Lytta (Asiolytta) selanderi Saha is described. The subgeneric assignments for two species are proposed: Lytta (Lytta) battonii (Kaszab) and Lytta (Lytta) sifanica (Semenov). 23 known species of Chinese Lytta are listed.
A new species ofLytta Fabricius 1775, Lytta choui sp. nov., is described from Hebei, China. Images are provided of its habitus, head, protibial spurs and aedeagus, and the antenna, pronotum, spiculum gastrale, abdominal sternite and tergite are illustrated. The type specimens are deposited in the Hebei University Museum, Baoding, China (HBUM).
