Negative effects of dissolved organic compounds on settling performance of goethite in Bayer red mud被引量:5

Goethite, a typical iron-containing monomineral in red mud, was synthesized under the simulated Bayer digestion condition during the alumina production. The effects of dissolved organic compounds including sodium formate, sodium acetate, sodium oxalate, sodium salicylate and disodium phthalate on the settling performance of goethite slurries were studied. The settling performance of the slurries was also investigated with the addition of self-made hydroxamated polyacrylamide flocculant (HCPAM). The adsorption mechanism of dissolved organic compounds on the goethite surfaces was studied by FT-IR and XPS, respectively. The results show that the addition of organic compounds lowers the settling performance of the slurries and a deterioration in settling performance is observed in the order of sodium oxalate 〉 sodium salicylate (~ disodium phthalate) 〉 sodium formate 〉 sodium acetate. Moreover, HCPAM can efficiently eliminate the negative effects of sodium formate, sodium acetate and sodium oxalate on the settling performance of the goethite slurries, but it can only partially improve the settling performance of the goethite slurries containing sodium salicylate or disodium phthalate. FT-IR and XPS results show that these organic compounds are chemically adsorbed on the goethite surface.

Hydration grossular and hematite monominerals were synthesized. The effects of dissolved organic compounds(including sodium formate, sodium acetate, sodium oxalate, sodium salicylate or disodium phthalate) on the settling performance of hydration grossular or hematite slurries were studied. The settling of the slurries was also investigated with the addition of sodium polyacrylate(PAAS) or hydroxamated polyacrylamide flocculant(HCPAM). The adsorption mechanism of organic compounds on monominerals surfaces was studied by FT-IR and XPS, respectively. A deterioration in settling is observed in order of disodium phthalate>sodium salicylate>sodium oxalate>sodium formate(or sodium acetate). Moreover, PAAS can efficiently eliminate the negative effects of organic compounds on the settling performance of the hydration grossular slurry. HCPAM can efficiently eliminate the negative effects of sodium formate, sodium acetate and sodium oxalate on the settling performance of the hematite slurry, but it only partially improves the settling performance of hematite slurry containing sodium salicylate or disodium phthalate. FT-IR and XPS results show that organic compounds are physically adsorbed on hydration grossular surface, and chemisorptions of organic compounds occur on hematite surface with a bidentate chelating complex.

Flocculation performance and mechanism of hydroxamate flocculants on synthetic hematite or goethite suspension

Suitable amounts of Al(OH)3, Na OH and synthetic hematite or goethite were taken to be digested under the simulated condition of the Bayer process and subsequently diluted with simulative Bayer red mud lotion, then the synthetic hematite or goethite suspension was obtained. The flocculation effect of self-made modified poly(acrylic acids) flocculants containing hydroxamic acid groups(abbreviated as HPAA) on the synthetic hematite or goethite suspension was studied. The experimental results show that with the increase of the dosages of added flocculants, the average settling rate of the synthetic hematite or goethite suspension in the first 1min speeds up, the supernatant solids decrease. It could also be found that there is generally a decrease in the average settling rate of the synthetic hematite or goethite suspension in the first 1 min with increasing solid content of the suspension. When the solid content of hematite or goethite of the suspension is 50 g/L with 240 g/t dosage of HPAA, HPAA has a better flocculation effect on the synthetic goethite suspension than on the synthetic hematite suspension. The adsorption mechanism of HPAA on the surface of hematite or goethite was investigated by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS).All the results suggest that HPAA is adsorbed on the hematite or goethite surface by a chemisorption, and it has a stronger adsorption on the goethite surface than on the hematite surface.

氧肟酸基团含量高的改性絮凝剂制备及应用

以高分子量聚丙烯酰胺(PAM)为原料,合成了聚丙烯酰胺改性氧肟酸型絮凝剂产品(HPAM)。通过傅里叶变换红外光谱分析(FT-IR)证实了该产品中氧肟酸基团的存在。用电导滴定法与凯氏定氮法相结合,测得该产品中氧肟酸基团含量高达46%,羧基含量23%。用针铁矿含量高的合成拜耳法赤泥浆料研究了该絮凝剂产品添加量对针铁矿含量高的赤泥沉降分离效果影响。结果表明,该絮凝剂产品对于该针铁矿含量高的赤泥具有良好的沉降分离效果,与美国氰特公司产品Hx-600的赤泥沉降效果基本相当。

利用钛铁矿制备纳米钛基功能材料被引量:3

为了有效控制纳米钛基材料的晶型、结构和生产成本,提出一种可直接制备高质量的纳米钛基产品的新方法。将球磨后的钛铁矿粉末经稀盐酸工艺处理后可全部转换为二氧化钛纳米棒,其长度、宽度和厚度分别为50~100,5~20和2~5 nm。研究结果表明:二氧化钛纳米棒负极材料具有较好的锂离子存储性能。通过球磨、焙烧结合酸浸工艺处理钛铁矿,可获得具有双孔特征的二氧化钛纳米颗粒,其中大孔(50~80 nm)对应于团聚在一起的纳米颗粒之间的间隙,小孔(3~20 nm)则对应纳米粒子表面上的洞,此外,所获得的多孔结构的二氧化钛纳米产品显示出较高的光催化活性。

Synthesis of modified polyacrylamide with high content of hydroxamate groups and settling performance of red mud被引量:2

Hydroxamated polyacrylamide(HPAM) was synthesized from polyacrylamide(PAM) with high relative molecular mass under the optimum reaction conditions(p H 12 and a molar ratio of hydroxylamine to amide groups of 1.5 at 50 ℃for 12 h). The hydroxamate groups of HPAM were verified by Fourier transform infrared spectrum(FT-IR). 46%(molar fration) hydroxamate groups and 23%(molar fraction) carbonyl groups on HPAM were determined by conductometric titration combined with Kjeldahl's microanalysis method. The settling performance achieved at different flocculant dosages was investigated with high goethite-containing red mud slurry of simulated Bayer process synthesized in laboratory. It turns out that the settling performance of high goethite-containing red mud was better with HPAM. The average settling rate of red mud in the first 5 min and the turbidity of supernatant after settling for 30 min are 2.36 m/h and 507 NTU, respectively, at a flocculant dosage of 120 g/t, which is similar to that achieved with Hx-600.

模拟拜耳法赤泥的沉降分离性能及吸附机理被引量:1

本文将我国拜耳法赤泥分解成含钛组分钙钛矿、含硅组分水化石榴石(以水化钙铝榴石物相为主)和含铁组分赤铁矿。在模拟拜耳法溶出条件下,分别合成了赤泥的主要组分钙钛矿、水化钙铝榴石和赤铁矿,并研究了商品聚丙烯酸钠(PAAS)与Hx-600(Cytec,USA)对赤泥中主要组分的沉降性能,并通过FT-IR谱初步探讨了絮凝机理。结果表明,赤泥中的含钛组分钙钛矿,其沉降速度较快,只需添加高分子量的PAAS即可满足工业生产要求;含硅组分水化钙铝榴石与Hx-600、PAAS均未发生化学吸附作用,仅通过物理缠结作用提高了水化钙铝榴石的沉降性能;含铁组分赤铁矿与Hx-600或PAAS发生了化学吸附,Hx-600对赤铁矿的沉降性能优于PAAS,可能由于Hx-600与赤铁矿表面形成的五元环比PAAS与赤铁矿表面形成的四元环更稳定所致。

含氧肟酸基团絮凝剂的合成及其对赤泥的沉降效果被引量:2

本文以自制高分子量的聚丙烯酸为原料,1,4-二氧六环为溶剂,用N,N’-羰基二咪唑在100℃下活化聚丙烯酸5h,然后再加盐酸羟胺在一定温度下(30~50℃)反应一定时间(5~24h),得到了含氧肟酸基团的絮凝剂产品。通过与FeCl3显色反应、红外光谱分析表明了产品中氧肟酸基团的存在,用凯氏定氮法测得产品中氧肟酸基团含量高达57.5%。所得产品对于针铁矿含量高的赤泥具有良好的沉降效果:赤泥浆液固含量为42g/L,产品添加量为240ppm时,前5分钟平均沉降速度为1.75m/h,沉降30min后上清液浊度为596NTU。而聚丙烯酸钠、ALCLAR665和Nalco9779商品絮凝剂的沉降效果却很差。

FT-IR、XPS和DFT研究水杨酸钠在针铁矿或赤铁矿上的吸附机理(英文)被引量:7

采用傅里叶变换红外(FT-IR)光谱、X射线光电子能谱(XPS)以及基于周期平面波的密度泛函理论(DFT)分别研究了水杨酸钠在针铁矿或赤铁矿表面上的吸附结构,并将计算得到的光电子能谱移动(CLS)和电荷转移与实验得到的XPS结果进行对比。FT-IR结果表明,水杨酸钠可能以双齿双核(V)和双齿单核(IV)的形式分别吸附于针铁矿或赤铁矿表面。由DFT计算结果可知,水杨酸钠在针铁矿(101)晶面上形成双齿双核化合物(V)的吸附能为-5.46 e V。而水杨酸钠在针铁矿(101)晶面上形成双齿单核化合物(IV)的吸附能为3.80 e V,因此水杨酸钠在针铁矿上基本不以双齿单核化合物(IV)构型存在。水杨酸钠在赤铁矿(001)晶面上形成双齿单核化合物(IV)时吸附能为-4.07 e V,说明水杨酸钠在赤铁矿(001)晶面上形成了双齿单核化合物(IV)。另外,理论计算的针铁矿(101)晶面上吸附位点铁原子的Fe 2p的CLS值(-0.68 e V)与实验观察到的Fe 2p的CLS值(-0.5 e V)吻合。理论计算的赤铁矿(001)晶面上吸附位点铁原子的Fe 2p的CLS值(-0.80 e V)与实验观察到的Fe 2p的CLS值(-0.8 e V)吻合。因此,水杨酸钠吸附在针铁矿表面时能够通过羧酸基团上一个氧原子和酚羟基上的氧原子与针铁矿(101)表面上的两个铁原子形成双齿双核(V)结构,而在赤铁矿(001)表面上,水杨酸钠中羧酸基团上一个氧原子和酚羟基上的氧原子与赤铁矿(001)表面上的一个铁原子形成了双齿单核(IV)结构。
