光纤激光磁场传感器灵敏度与拍频频率的关系被引量:2

基于法拉第效应,正交双频光纤激光器已经被证明可用于实现磁场传感。但这种传感器对磁场的灵敏度与激光器初始的拍频频率相关。因此对这种传感器的磁场灵敏度与拍频频率的关系进行了研究。理论和实验结果表明,传感器对磁场的灵敏度与拍频频率间呈非线性关系,并且灵敏度随着拍频频率的减小而增大。该灵敏度存在一个由费尔德常数决定的上限值。对于实验中基于掺铒光纤制备的短腔光纤激光器,通过将初始拍频频率降至2 MHz,获得了激光器对磁场响应的最大灵敏度43 Hz/μT。此外,激光器初始拍频频率与抽运激光的偏振态也有关系。实验表明,通过调谐抽运激光的偏振态,可以动态地调谐传感器对磁场的灵敏度。

Magnetostrictive composite material-based polarimetric heterodyning fiber-grating laser miniature magnetic field sensor被引量:3

A novel fiber-optic magnetic field sensor is demonstrated based on a dual-polarization fiber-grating laser, which is embedded in an epoxy resin-bonded magnetostrictive composite material with doped Terfenol-D particles. A simple structure is designed to convert the magnetic field-induced strain to transversal stress, which is applied to the fiber laser to produce beat note frequency changes for measurement purposes. The response of the proposed sensor is measured, and shows quite a good directivity and linearity with a sensitivity of 10.5 Hz/μT to the magnetic field. It also shows a large measurable range up to about 0.3 T.

Impact of external optical feedback on the beat notes of dual-polarization fiber lasers

We present a theoretical analysis and an experimental study of the impacts of external optical feedback on dualfrequency fiber lasers. The external optical feedback can effectively suppress the phase noise of the beat notes of dual-frequency fiber lasers, provided some requirements are satisfied. The polarization of the optical feedback is important for the fiber laser's stability, and it can also tune the beat note frequency. A side effect of external optical feedback, as demonstrated in the experiments, is lowering the sensitivity of the dual-frequency fiber laserbased sensors, although such degradation is not obvious.

High-sensitive and temperature-self-calibrated tilted fiber grating biological sensing probe被引量:3

High sensitivity biological sample measurement has been achieved by using a 10° tilted fiber Bragg grating sensing probe. Human acute leukemia cells with different intracellular densities were clearly discriminated by identifying their slight refraction index (RI) perturbations in the range from 1.3342 to 1.3344, combining with a temperature self-calibration property. We studied the relationship between the intracellular density of cells (S50 and S60) and their RIs, the experimental results provide a potential way to verify the hypothesis for "density alteration in non-physiological cells (DANCE)".

Pump induced birefringence in dual-polarization fiber grating lasers

Birefringence is critical in dual-polarization fiber-laser-based fiber-optic sensing systems, as it directly determines the beat frequency between the two polarizations. A study of pump induced birefringence in dualpolarization fiber lasers is presented here, which shows that the pump induced birefringence is a result of the interplay among pump induced refractive index change, laser dynamics, and anisotropy inside fiber lasers.For erbium-doped fiber lasers, pumping at 1480 nm is better than pumping at 980 nm in lower pump induced birefringence. Moreover, injection at 532 nm for an adequately long enough time can permanently reduce anisotropy and, hence, reduce pump induced birefringence.
