Use of polarization freedom beyond polarizationdivision multiplexing to support high-speed and spectral-efficient data transmission被引量:2

Increasing the system capacity and spectral efficiency(SE)per unit bandwidth is one of the ultimate goals for data network designers,especially when using technologies compatible with current embedded fiber infrastructures.Among these,the polarizationdivision-multiplexing(PDM)scheme,which supports two independent data channels on a single wavelength with orthogonal polarization states,has become a standard one in most state-of-art telecommunication systems.Currently,however,only two polarization states(that is,PDM)can be used,setting a barrier for further SE improvement.Assisted by coherent detection and digital signal processing,we propose and experimentally demonstrate a scheme for pseudo-PDM of four states(PPDM-4)by manipulation of four linearly polarized data channels with the same wavelength.Without any modification of the fiber link,we successfully transmit a 100-Gb s−1 PPDM-4 differential-phase-shift-keying signal over a 150-km single-mode fiber link.Such a method is expected to open new possibilities to fully explore the use of polarization freedom for capacity and SE improvement over existing fiber systems.

The Optimization of Radio over Fiber Link by Proper Link Gain Control

we demonstrate the adjustability of optimal input power(OIP) of the radio over fiber(RoF) link by proper link gain control in the central unit(CU) and remote antenna unit(RAU).The experiment results show that the reading and writing distance(RWD)of the radio frequency identification(RFID)service and the throughput of the WiFi service have a max increase of 3cm and 6.975Mbit/s respectively when the OIP value equals to output power of commercial products,compared with OIP value with 5-dBm right/left shift to the output power.

Transmission and demodulation of multi-polarization-multiplexed signals

We propose the configuration of signal multiplexing with four polarization states and investigate its transmission performance over single-mode fiber links.Using coherent detection and digital signal processing,a demodulation scheme for four-polarization-multiplexed(4PM)system is presented.We discuss the impact of crosstalk from polarization mode dispersion and polarization beam splitter misalignment on the proposed 4PM system.Furthermore,the transmission distance could be doubled to*50 km by employing feedback decision equalizers.

Adaptive digital backward propagation based on variance of intensity noise

An adaptive digital backward propagation(ADBP) algorithm is proposed and experimentally demonstrated based on the variance of the intensity noise. The proposed algorithm can self-determine the unknown nonlinear coefficient γ and the nonlinear compensation parameter ξ. Compared to the scheme based on the variance of phase noise, the proposed algorithm can avoid the repeated frequency offset compensation and carrier phase recovery. The simulation results show that the system's performance compensated by the proposed method is comparable to conventional ADBP schemes. The performance of the proposed algorithm is simulated in40/112 Gb/s polarization-division multiplexing(PDM)-quadrature phase-shift keying(QPSK) and 224 Gb/s PDM-16-quadrature amplitude modulation(QAM) systems and further experimentally verified in a 40 Gb/s PDM-QPSK coherent optical communication system over a 720 km single-mode fiber.

Microwave photonic signal generation schemes based on the frequency to time mapping and external modulation are reviewed.We concentrate on those configurations that can provide tunability of frequency,phase of signal,modulation formats(i.e.,2PSK,2FSK,etc.),as well as pulse shapes(i.e.,UWBs-,triangle-and arbitraryshaped,etc.).

一种降低相干光正交频分复用系统序列相关性的方法

分析了相干光正交频分复用(CO-OFDM)系统中四波混频(FWM,four-wave mixing)效应对系统性能的影响,提出了一种新的降低CO-OFDM系统中各个子载波序列相关性的方法——偏载波填充法(PCF,partial carrier filling)与部分序列传输(PTS,partial sequence of transmission)相结合。理论分析和仿真表明,这种方法能有效降低CO-OFDM系统的序列相关性,从而抑制信道内FWM效应对CO-OFDM系统带来的损伤。研究结果表明,本文提出的方法在传输距离达103 km的情况下,误码率(BER)仍然低于10-3,与PTS方法相比,降低了将近1个数量级。

基于微纳波导四波混频效应的全光逻辑实现被引量:7

研究填充非线性材料的金属介质金属(MIM)平面波导中的四波混频(FWM)效应,针对该类基于表面等离子体(SP)局域增强和双折射特性的微纳器件,具体分析了不同偏振态抽运光输入所对应的FWM过程。在厚度为250nm的波导中,当入射抽运偏振态相同时FWM效应最强,FWM效率达到-33dB;在入射抽运偏振态正交时FWM效应最弱,没有闲频波产生。在厚度为50nm的波导中由于SP TE模式截止,仅在入射抽运偏振态均为TM时FWM效率达到-30dB,其他偏振态下没有闲频波产生。利用上述特性可以制作基于FWM的微纳全光逻辑器件。

基于偏振调制的可变系数微波光子滤波器被引量:1

基于偏振调制器(PolM)设计并实现具有可变系数特性的可调谐微波光子滤波器,通过理论计算与实验证实了设计方案的可行性。PolM可以对输入的微波信号实现两路正交反相的相位调制,经强度调制转换后,可以拍频恢复出原来的微波信号。仅需通过调节偏振控制器(PC)控制光信号的检偏方向,即可实现恢复出的微波信号π相位变化,进而实现滤波器抽头系数的正负变化。利用偏振分束器(PBS)实现两路光信号检偏和合并的同时,能够有效地避免两路光信号之间的干涉。通过调节光路中的光可调时延线(OTDL)改变两路光信号间的时延差,能够改变滤波器的自由光谱范围(FSR),实现滤波器的可调谐。通过实验验证了时延差分别为300ps和400ps两种情况下正系数和负系数微波光子滤波器的频率响应,与理论计算值相吻合,验证了方案正确性。

基于分布式光纤协同的近场无源测相定位技术研究被引量:2

为了进一步提高近场目标的定位精度,该文提出一种将测得的相位差经解模糊算法后转化为时间差进行无源定位的方法,并建立了相应的近场测相定位模型。该模型中由近端阵元和通过光纤连接到中心处理单元的远端阵元形成分布式协同测量系统,解决了损耗和相位差模糊的问题,从而可以通过相位差测量来间接获得时差,最终实现对辐射源的快速精确定位。仿真结果表明该方法与直接测量时差的定位法相比,具有精度高、损耗低且布站容易的特点,在电子对抗领域具有一定的参考价值。
